Meet Your Skipper, Porky

I’ve spent more than 30 years working on the water, and there’s nowhere I’d rather be than out on the ocean.

My love for the water started at 18, working in our family business hiring out banana boats on the Whakatāne River and in Ōhiwa Harbour. Since then, I’ve been involved in all sorts of marine work, including White Island tours, marine construction, dredging and surveying.

I’ve also been lucky enough to explore some incredible parts of the world by sea. One of my most memorable adventures was a seven-month voyage from Tahiti through French Polynesia to Pitcairn Island, Chile, Antarctica, the Falkland Islands and South Georgia.

But there’s something pretty special about being out on the water here in the Bay of Plenty. I enjoy sharing my local knowledge, finding great fishing spots and making sure everyone has a good time.
